PURPOSE
Perform a wide range of physical labor and material handling tasks in a fast-paced lumberyard environment and at customer job sites. This role combines yard operations with delivery responsibilities, requiring strong attention to safety, efficiency, and customer service. This position is for our Rochester, MN location. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Load, unload, and transport lumber and building materials within the yard and to customer locations. 
  • Safely operate hand and power tools including drills, saws, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Assist with delivery operations, ensuring accurate orders and timely drop-offs. 
  • Secure loads properly to prevent damage during transport. 
  • Perform routine vehicle and truck inspections, report maintenance issues promptly. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of yard, warehouse, and job sites. 
  • Assist with inventory handling, material staging, and site preparation. 
  • Conduct regular maintenance of tools and equipment (cleaning, lubricating, minor repairs). 
  • Follow all safety procedures and properly interpret warning signs and equipment labels. 
  • Attend safety meetings and complete required training, including forklift certification. 
  • Work collaboratively with Yard Foreman, Assistant Foreman, and Management. 
  • Demonstrate initiative, reliability, and a strong work ethic in all assigned tasks. 
Qualifications
  • Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds consistently 
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive manual labor. 
  • Willingness to obtain forklift certification (provided by company). 
  • Valid driver’s license (preferred for delivery responsibilities). 
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety regulations. 
  • Professional appearance and adherence to dress code (no shorts). 
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and eager to learn new skills. 
Work Schedule
  • Monday – Friday 
  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

SUBSTANCE ABUSE TESTING
Due to the safety and/or security sensitive nature of this classification, individuals shall be subject to pre-employment or pre-placement alcohol, drug and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in the handbook. Certain positions within this class are subject to DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) drug and alcohol testing as outlined in 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 382 (by assignment). 

Pay is based upon experience and aptitude.

Compensation: $19.00 - $27.00 per hour
